Andrew is a customer focused, professional and flexible person with a passion for IT. Responsibilities:

To provide consultancy to the customer and implementation of Server project specific work, ranging from concept design, implementation, to day-to-day SLA support and pro-active work. The environment is a mixture of over 60 NT4 and 2000 Servers in an NT4 Domain, though a couple of Active Directory domains are managed. Skills required in NT4, W2K and Netware 4 Admin, Login Script administration (DOS and Kixtart), Exchange 5.5 Admin, Dell CX400 SAN, Windows 2000 Server with DHCP, WINS, DNS, IIS, ISA, RRAS, SMS 1.2, Terminal Services, Citrix Winframe, Metaframe XP, Veritas Netbackup 4 and Backup Exec 8 & 9, Arcserve 2000, MS SQL 7 and 2000, Oracle 8i and ODBC applications, Trend Scanmail, Inoculan InoculateIT. Using Compaq & Dell servers on Ethernet, Fibre and Token ring.

 

Key Achievements:

New SAN design, build and migration from Netware to new managed environment, Design and build of a 99.99 cluster server using Legato Co-Standby Server, Consultancy on schools broadband strategy, Whitefriars migration to Metaframe, Implementing new documentation standards. All these projects required close work with the customer to ensure effective communication and their satisfaction at project close.

Responsibilities:

IT project consultancy for customers including National Savings, Welsh Assembly, Siemens, National Tyres and Barclays. This role involved short-term project management, excellent customer interaction skills, documentation and process skills, a large amount of travel and the need for a wide range of IT skills on demand.

 

Key Achievements:

Single-Handed creation of Windows 2000 gold build and processes for deployment across all Siemens UK sites. Peer and Customer approvals were required at every stage. This project involved the use of the W2K and NT4 resource kit, SYSDIFF snapshots, Ghost and Sysprep Imaging, unattended auto-installs, repackaging using Winstaller Lite, MSI packages, scripting using DOS, and Kixtart. Version control, testing, problem management and organisation skills. Desktop applications used include Office 97 and 2000, Winzip, Mcafee Antivirus, Adobe software, Hummingbird Exceed amongst others.

Siemens PLC due diligence assessment for bid proposal. Investigation and rectification for Year 2000 problems, including support over the New Year period. Built and installed a MS Cluster server for National Savings and upgraded its premium bonds computer, ERNIE.

Responsibilities:

Management and security of IT infrastructure across 5 sites and 12 domains in an NT4 multi-master configuration. Performed server upgrades, monitoring and maintenance at the Chilworth site and co-ordinated implementation of this on other sites.

 

Key Achievements:

Created a new domain, compatible with current structure, comprising 3 servers and 20 new desktops. Installed other servers throughout the companies IT environment which supplied IT to 5000 technical staff. Developed and implemented backup strategy.

Responsibilities:

Installing PC Hardware and Software to standard/ customer specific builds all to meet within SLA timescales and quality. Configuration of applications on a client to file and print server topology. Fault call analysis and their solution as part of a team of seven. Customer consultancy including application support and advise on Hardware and Software requirements. A member of the Process Improvement Group responsible for setting up and maintaining the SBS Intranet. Ownership and maintenance of departmental procedures.

Key Achievements:

Part of a team rolling out NT3.51 and NT 4 to 1500 users, this involved familiarity of unattended install scripts and creation of network boot disks.
